MUST HALLIL

The wall painting “Must hallil” is the second composition in the series Muta Poesis, created during the NART (Narva Art Residency) residency in Narva.

“Muta poesis, pictura loquens” (Latin for “silent poetry, speaking painting”) is a famous dictum originally attributed to the Greek poet Simonides of Ceos and transmitted by Plutarch.

The six façade windows on the first floor above the gateway, boarded up with oriented strand board, form the surfaces for the façade painting.

The rhythmic motif 7,2,3,6,5,4 emerged spontaneously and follows the structure of opposing pairs (2–7, 3–6, 4–5).

“Must hallil” is silent poetry: it makes visible the invisible rhythms of the Kreenholmi Manufaktuur.
